Position Details
  • This Sales Executive role can be filled at the Sales Executive level or Senior Sales Executive level. Please see minimum qualifications listed below for each level.

Salary Range

Sales Executive Level: $100,800 to $112,000, varies based on experience, plus benefits including commission and 401(k).

Senior Sales Executive Level: $127,800 to $142,000, varies based on experience, plus benefits including commission and 401(k).

Location

This is a territory-based, field sales role supporting customers within the northern Mid-West United States. It offers flexibility to work from home but requires weekly, sometimes daily, travel within the territory. Candidates should reside within the territory, preferably in Michigan or Illinois, such as Springfield, IL, Lansing, Ann Arbor, or Detroit, MI. Travel expenses are covered by Constellation.

Primary Purpose of the Position

Sales Executives/Senior Sales Executives - Building Systems are responsible for closing new Energy Efficiency-focused Infrastructure Renewal and Building Upgrade & Improvement projects. This consultative sales role involves proactive identification, development, and closing of construction-project-based solutions aligned with customer goals in efficiency, resiliency, and sustainability.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drive annual sales results for energy efficiency, resiliency, and sustainability projects, achieving sales quotas.
  • Manage designated sales territory to secure new business.
  • Maintain a pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Conduct in-person customer meetings to identify needs and challenges.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure project deliverables meet sales strategy and customer expectations.
  • Build professional presence through trade shows, conferences, and networking.
  • Leverage market contacts for prospecting and business development.
  • Develop and submit sales forecasts.
  • Report activity accurately and participate in team meetings.
  • Senior level: Lead project interviews, presentations, and stakeholder engagements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - Sales Executive Level
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of consultative, solutions-based sales experience in relevant industries such as energy contracting, facility upgrades, or related fields.
  • Or relevant experience and established contacts in government or institutional markets.
  • Proven success in managing sales territories, negotiating, closing transactions, and exceeding quotas.
  • Strong networking, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM and MS Office.
Minimum Qualifications - Senior Sales Executive Level
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of relevant sales experience in similar industries.
  • Or equivalent experience with established contacts in relevant markets.
  • Successful track record in complex sales and managing sales cycles over 12 months.
  • Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills, including at C-suite level.
Preferred Qualifications - Both Levels
  • Deep understanding of building and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with energy and sustainability projects and managing long sales cycles.
  • Formal sales training (e.g., Sandler, Miller Heiman).
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
