Job summary

Instron, a global leader in mechanical testing systems, is seeking a results‑driven sales professional to cover the Southeast, focusing on Georgia and Tennessee. You will demonstrate products, qualify leads, and develop a territory plan to meet bookings and sales objectives.

Travel up to 35% with a company vehicle, build strong customer relationships, stay ahead of industry trends, and partner with a dynamic, collaborative team that supports your growth and sales success.

Qualifications

  • Technical bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 5–10+ years of outside/field-based technical sales of capital equipment.
  • Experience in test & measurement, analytical instrumentation or industrial controls is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Uncover Opportunities: Work with the Southeast sales team to identify and qualify leads in Georgia and Tennessee.
  • Demonstrate Excellence: Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations highlighting Instron’s differentiated products.
  • Craft Solutions: Develop and implement a proactive territory management plan to meet bookings and sales objectives.
  • Build Relationships: Cultivate strong customer relationships and promptly address inquiries or concerns.
  • Stay Ahead: Track industry trends, market developments, and competitor activity to identify opportunities.
  • Hit the Road: Travel within the Southeast up to 35% with a company vehicle.

What You’ll Do
  • Uncover Opportunities: Work closely with our sales team to identify and qualify sales leads, focusing on the Southeast Region states of Georgia and Tennessee.
  • Demonstrate Excellence: Conduct compelling product demonstrations and technical presentations, showcasing the benefits and customer value of Instron's highly differentiated products.
  • Craft Solutions: Develop and implement a proactive territory management plan that ensures bookings plans and sales objectives are met or exceeded, including a strategy to proactively increase market share within specific industries and applications.
  • Build Relationships: Cultivate strong relationships with customers, providing exceptional support and promptly addressing inquiries or concerns.
  • Stay Ahead: Stay up to date with industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities to identify potential sales opportunities.
  • Hit the Road: Travel within the Southeast Region to visit customers, attend trade shows, and represent Instron at industry events – you’ll be provided with a company vehicle and overnight travel is estimated to be up to 35%.
What You’ll Bring

  • Technical Acumen: A technical bachelor’s degree (e.g., materials science or mechanical/electrical/biomedical/chemical engineering), combined with minimum of 5-10+ years of experience in outside/field-based technical sales of capital equipment (preferably in test & measurement, analytical instrumentation or industrial controls).
