This is a Night Shift position.

Purpose:

Under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Demonstrates an advanced level of knowledge in respiratory care as defined by the business unit. Performs all duties of a Respiratory Therapist, RRT. Responsibilities are performed in all patient populations and service areas.

Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrates advanced knowledge in high-risk modalities specific to the business. Administers therapies such as Nitric Oxide (NO) and Tracheal Gas Insufflation (TGI). Performs advanced functions in settings like OR, ED, Cath Lab, Lung Center, Recovery, Transport, etc. Performs bronchoscopy, ABG lab troubleshooting, pulmonary function tests, breath alcohol testing, EEG, EKG, Stress Testing, and 24-hour monitoring as needed.
2. Monitors patient's responses to therapy, including vital signs and blood gases.
3. Performs bronchopulmonary drainage and assists with breathing exercises.
4. Performs pulmonary function tests for diagnosis.
5. Consults with physicians regarding adverse reactions.
6. Maintains patient charts with relevant information.
7. Orders repairs when necessary.
8. Demonstrates procedures to trainees and healthcare personnel.
9. Supervises students during training.
10. Assists in transporting mechanically ventilated patients and responds to code situations.
11. Evaluates medical orders and interprets clinical data for optimal patient care.
12. Performs duties of a Respiratory Therapist, RRT, including assessing patient condition, operating respiratory devices, and ensuring equipment safety.
13. Functions as a Lead Respiratory Therapist when needed, providing guidance and training to staff.
