Qualifications

About the Opportunity

The Antibiotic Discovery Center (ADC) at Northeastern University is seeking a highly motivated Senior ResearchTechnician to support the development and implementation of a target-based screening platform for antibiotic discovery, assist in downstream hit validation and compound isolation, and contribute to overall laboratory operations in a collaborative research environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development of a novel microfluidics-basedhigh-throughput screening platform
• Execute biochemical and microbiological assays to identify and validate antibacterial targets.
• Support high-throughput and focused screening efforts,including assay development, optimization, and data analysis.
• Participate in hit triage, secondary assays, and compoundcharacterization, including natural product isolation andstructure-activity studies.
• Operate and maintain equipment supporting screening andcompound purification (e.g., LC, HPLC, plate readers, microfluidicssorters).
• Manage lab inventories, supplies, and safety compliance;coordinate maintenance and calibration of shared instruments.
• Contribute to protocol development, data management, andpreparation of reports and presentations.
• Provide training and technical support to students and new labmembers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry,Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
• Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on research experience in anacademic or industrial setting.
• Technical expertise in molecular cloning, bacterial culture,and biochemical or enzymatic assays.
• Experience with natural product extraction, chromatographicpurification, or analytical instrumentation (e.g., LC-MS) isstrongly preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with theability to multitask in a dynamic research environment.
