Job summary

Northeastern University’s Antibiotic Discovery Center (ADC) seeks a Senior Research Technician to support a target-based screening platform for antibiotic discovery. You will aid hit validation, compound isolation, and routine lab operations in a collaborative setting.

Responsibilities include developing microfluidics-based HTS, performing biochemical and microbiological assays, data analysis, and training students in advanced techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of hands‑on research experience in academic or industrial settings.
• Technical expertise in molecular cloning, bacterial culture, and biochemical or enzymatic assays.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development of a microfluidics-based high-throughput screening platform.
• Execute biochemical and microbiological assays to identify and validate targets.
• Support screening efforts, including assay development, optimization, and data analysis.
• Participate in hit triage, secondary assays, and compound characterization.
• Operate and maintain equipment (LC, HPLC, plate readers, microfluidics sorters).
• Manage lab inventories, safety compliance, and instrument calibration.
• Contribute to protocol development, data management, and reports/presentations.
• Provide training and technical support to students and new lab members.
