Position Overview

Bowhead is seeking a Sr. Release Train Engineer for the Army Data and Analytics Platform (ARDAP) effort located at Fort Belvoir, VA. The mission is to enhance Army decision-making and warfighter success by providing real-time command and logistics data. This role involves managing subject matter experts and IT professionals, advising executive personnel on financial, technical, and policy matters.

Responsibilities
  1. Serve as the strategic leader and coach for the Army Training Information System (ATIS) Agile Release Train (ART), ensuring effective Agile practices.
  2. Coordinate activities across multiple teams, facilitate stakeholder communication, manage risks, and promote continuous improvement within the ART.
  3. Lead and coach the ART, synchronize activities across SAFe architecture, and support Agile events like PI Planning and System Demos.
  4. Plan and execute Program Increment (PI) planning, prioritize features, and manage dependencies.
  5. Identify and resolve program risks, escalate issues, and report metrics to senior leadership.
  6. Facilitate economic decision-making, coach on Lean Agile principles, and promote best practices.
  7. Act as liaison between Agile teams and stakeholders, providing regular updates on progress and risks.
  8. Leverage knowledge of government acquisition, contracts, and subcontract management to ensure compliance and success.
Qualifications
  1. Master’s degree in IT or related field.
  2. 20+ years of experience in DoD/federal software solutions.
  3. 5+ years leading Agile projects, with experience as a Release Train Engineer.
  4. Certifications: PMP, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent.
  5. Experience leading SAFe transformations in large-scale environments.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  7. Effective communication skills at all levels.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills and judgment.
Physical & Security Requirements
  • Must lift up to 25 pounds, stand, walk, and periodically twist or squat.
  • Must hold a Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required.
