Summary

Senior QA and Sensory Technologist

The Sr QA and Sensory Technologist supports the retailer's overall program objectives through managing and implementing quality assurance practices such as product monitoring, evaluation, customer feedback programs, and supplier standards. They are responsible for ensuring timely submission of formal regulatory applications to support the private brands program, maintaining retailer compliance. The role involves managing relationships with cross-functional teams, customers, and manufacturers, as well as reviewing and adjusting processes and procedures to maximize efficiencies.

The company is a leading North American sales and marketing agency specializing in outsourced sales, merchandising, category management, and marketing services to manufacturers, suppliers, and producers of food products and consumer packaged goods. It serves various trade channels including grocery, mass merchandise, specialty, convenience, drug, dollar, club, hardware, consumer electronics, and home centers. The company bridges the gap between manufacturers and retailers, providing consumers access to the best products available today.

Position Summary

The Sr QA and Sensory Technologist supports the retailer's overall program objectives through managing and implementing quality assurance practices such as product monitoring, evaluation, customer feedback programs, and supplier standards. They are required to manage the timely submission of formal regulatory applications for the private brands program, ensuring compliance. The role involves maintaining relationships with retailer cross-functional teams, customers, and manufacturers, as well as reviewing and refining processes to improve efficiency.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manage the development, implementation, and administration of Quality Assurance procedures, policies, programs, and systems.
  2. Oversee the product development process for assigned clients and products.
  3. Administer the private label quality assurance testing program.
  4. Lead management of the retailer’s customer feedback programs for private brands.
  5. Resolve quality issues and recommend corrective actions with vendors.
  6. Audit critical categories for quality and food safety.
  7. Design, execute, and analyze consumer tests and sensory evaluations of private label and competitive products.
  8. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations for products and packaging.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory or mentoring responsibilities.

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

Travel and driving are not essential duties of this job.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Field of Study/Experience: Science, preferably Food Science, with 5+ years of laboratory experience.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible and adaptable to project and business changes.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, procedures, and policy development techniques.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, and web browsers.
Environmental & Physical Requirements

Work is primarily sedentary in an office environment, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods, hear telephone communications, enter data, and lift up to 30 lbs.
