Job Summary

The person in this position is a licensed Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Cytogenetics (CG) responsible for specimen processing, analysis, and results reporting. They perform standard duties independently and consult the Lead Technologist as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Performs all duties of a Medical Technologist I independently, demonstrating satisfactory competency.
  • Assists in training new employees and trainees per department protocols.
  • Prepares and presents case studies or continuing education activities.
  • Receives and processes specimens according to protocols.
  • Assists with administrative tasks such as ordering supplies and maintaining inventory.
  • Produces, interprets, and reports accurate test results.
  • Identifies and corrects issues affecting test performance or reporting.
  • Communicates relevant information to supervisors or other staff.
  • Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Validates new methods and handles CAP surveys.
  • Supports documentation and QA/QC programs.
  • Works within departmental productivity guidelines.
  • Adheres to safety and laboratory procedures, including confidentiality and security policies.
  • Addresses client concerns as needed.
