Job Summary
The person in this position is a licensed Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Cytogenetics (CG) responsible for specimen processing, analysis, and reporting. They assist in department leadership and perform complex procedures, tasks, and analysis.

Essential Functions

  • Performs duties of a Medical Technologist II with high competency.
  • Leads projects in training, QA programs, and protocols.
  • Assists with administrative tasks like supply ordering and inventory.
  • Provides leadership and problem-solving support to junior techs.
  • Identifies and corrects issues affecting test performance or results.
  • Designs and updates procedures for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Trains new employees and trainees.
  • Prepares and presents case studies or educational activities.
  • Processes specimens according to protocols.
  • Produces and reports accurate test results.
  • Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Validates new methods and handles CAP surveys.
  • Maintains QA/QC programs.
  • Works within productivity expectations and adheres to safety and confidentiality guidelines.
