Job summary

WSB is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead multi-discipline municipal projects across the United States. You will manage client relations, coordinate public meetings, and guide engineers and staff to deliver CIP programs on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years municipal experience, a Civil Engineering degree, and PE registration or the ability to obtain it within six months. This position emphasizes leadership, compliance, and innovative solutions for municipal projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school.
• Registration as a professional engineer (or ability to obtain within six months).
• 8+ years municipal experience; direct municipal experience.
• Experience managing municipal CIP programs and projects, clients, and staff in this market.
• History delivering projects with positive customer service experiences.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of multi-discipline projects and clients from proposal through closeout.
• Plan, direct, and coordinate client meetings, public hearings, and involvement events.
• Lead a team of engineers, technicians, and staff across multiple locations.
• Deliver CIP programs and projects for municipal clients, potentially on-site.
• Establish and maintain relationships with municipal clients and ensure project requirements are met.
• Ensure compliance with municipal codes, regulations, and environmental standards.
• Develop project budgets, allocate resources, and monitor expenditures.
• Identify risks and mitigation strategies, resolving issues during execution.
• Oversee contract negotiations and contractor performance.
• Prepare project/client correspondence and documentation.
• Lead business development activities with new and existing clients.

What You Will Do

• Manage all aspects of multi-discipline projects and clients from the proposal process to project closeout
• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities including client meetings, public hearings, and public involvement events so that projects move forward within the prescribed time frames and budgets
• Anticipate client needs, biases, and preferences and tailor communication and work output accordingly
• Team Leadership: Leading a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring project progress in multiple locations
• Work directly with municipal client staff to deliver CIP programs and or projects, potentially on-site in a staff augmentation setting
• Client Relations: Establishing and maintaining relationships with municipal clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring project requirements are met
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring projects comply with relevant municipal codes, regulations, and environmental standards
• Budgeting and Resource Management: Developing project budgets, allocating resources effectively, and monitoring expenditures to ensure cost control
• Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identifying potential risks and challenges, developing risk mitigation strategies, and resolving issues that may arise during project execution.
• Contract Management: Overseeing contract negotiations, reviewing contractor performance, and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements
• Prepare or coordinate preparation of project / client correspondence and documentation
• Participate in and lead business development activities to new and existing clients through the following activities: plans, leads and participates in client meetings and networking events
• Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements, implementing best practices, and promoting innovation within the municipal engineering department
• Understanding of alternative funding sources for municipal projects, and ability to secure funding

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school
• Registration as a professional engineer (or the ability to obtain registration within six months)
• 8+ years municipal experience; direct experience working for a municipality
• Our preferred candidate would have experience in managing municipal CIP programs and projects, clients, and staff in this market
• A history in delivering projects with positive customer service experiences
• The ability and desire to develop an understanding of, or even anticipate the client’s needs
