Job summary

WSB is seeking a Senior Project Manager in Austin to lead municipal, multi‑discipline projects across the US, from proposals through closeout, ensuring on-time delivery within budget while coordinating with clients and staff.

You will drive client relations, regulatory compliance, risk management, and business development, with a focus on Central Texas and City of Austin initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school.
  • Registration as a professional engineer (or ability to obtain registration within six months).
  • 8+ years municipal experience; direct experience working for a municipality.
  • Experience working with the City of Austin is preferred.
  • Our preferred candidate would have experience in managing a variety of multi-disciplinary projects, clients, and staff in central Texas.
  • A history in delivering projects with positive customer service experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of multi-discipline projects and clients from the proposal process to project closeout.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities including client meetings, public hearings, and public involvement events so that projects move forward within the prescribed time frames and budgets.
  • Anticipate client needs, biases, and preferences and tailor communication and work output accordingly.
  • Team Leadership: Leading a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring project progress in multiple locations.
  • Work directly with municipal client staff to deliver CIP programs and or projects, potentially on-site in a staff augmentation setting.
  • Client Relations: Establishing and maintaining relationships with municipal clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring project requirements are met.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring projects comply with relevant municipal codes, regulations, and environmental standards. Experience with City of Austin requirements is a plus
  • Budgeting and Resource Management: Developing project budgets, allocating resources effectively, and monitoring expenditures to ensure cost control
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identifying potential risks and challenges, developing risk mitigation strategies, and resolving issues that may arise during project execution.
  • Contract Management: Overseeing contract negotiations, reviewing contractor performance, and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements
  • Prepare or coordinate preparation of project / client correspondence and documentation
  • Participate in and lead business development activities to new and existing clients through the following activities: plans, leads and participates in client meetings and networking events
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements, implementing best practices, and promoting innovation within the municipal engineering department
  • Understanding of alternative funding sources for municipal projects, and ability to secure funding
