Senior Project Engineer – LNG Liquefaction Expansion (Owner’s Side)
Location: Houston, TX (City West), with site travel to the Beaumont/Port Arthur area
Type: Direct hire
Client: Major LNG operator
Target start: By December
Overview
Our client, a leading LNG operator, is hiring a Senior Project Engineer for the owner’s project execution team on a major liquefaction expansion with brownfield tie-ins to an existing operating facility. The project is in the Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) phase. This role will support early engineering, procurement, and regulatory activities and carry the project through FID, EPC execution, commissioning, and handover to operations.
The Senior Project Engineer will work closely with the EPC contractor and will review and challenge engineering deliverables from the owner’s side. They’ll join alongside the project engineering lead, attend all key project meetings, and grow into ownership of areas that fit their strengths, such as HAZOPs, regulatory, and technical reviews. Expansion work is planned through 2031 and beyond, with future opportunities at other company sites.
Responsibilities
- Provide owner oversight of the EPC contractor and subcontractors, with a focus on safe execution
- Review, challenge, and approve EPC engineering deliverables: Basis of Design, P&IDs, project execution plans, and technical documentation

- Support the Management of Change process, review change orders, and verify that drawings and documents are kept current
- Support HAZOPs, PHAs, 3D model reviews, and constructability reviews
- Support regulatory and permitting activities, including FERC and PHMSA visits and responses to regulator questions
- Provide owner oversight at FATs, P&ID walkdowns, and major milestones at site and supplier shops
- Assess technical risks and develop mitigation plans
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, corporate standards, and project HSSE requirements
