Job description

Caturus, LLC, is an integrated natural gas and LNG company focused on responsible sourcing of low-emission fuel to domestic and international markets. Commonwealth LNG is developing a 9.5 Mtpa liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal project located near Cameron, Louisiana is looking for a VP, Engineering, to join our team. This position is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects and technological resources of the engineering department including field engineers and project engineers. The VP, Engineering would be based in Houston, TX and would report to our VP, Project Director.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide executive leadership for all engineering activities across the LNG project lifecycle, including FEED (future), detailed engineering, procurement support, construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align engineering goals with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of engineering milestones
  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet project scope, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry codes (API, ASME, NFPA, IEC, etc.).
  • Manage a project team in execution and delivery of safe, compliant, and reliable projects.
  • Drive schedule and budget compliance for project EPC deliverables.
  • Develop and manage staffing plans and budgets for capital projects.
  • Provide oversight of the work being done by other senior engineering leaders in an oversight and coaching role.
  • Ensure detail design document reviews are completed accurately and within the required contractual timeframe.
  • Prepare reports and evaluations of engineering solutions and communicate main drivers of the issues concisely, with executives as well as engineers and site technical personnel.
  • Champion a culture of safety by enforcing strict adherence to OSHA, EPA, and industry standards.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform the position successfully.

Education, Certificates, and Licenses:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required. Advanced degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of relevant engineering experience within the oil and gas industry required.
  • 10+ years of experience as an engineering manager with major project experience in design, commissioning, operations, and site construction within the oil and gas industry required.
  • LNG experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Technical Assurance oversight and managing an engineering team to support the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities for LNG multiple LNG Projects.
  • Development of a technical assurance plan and charter which outlined the scope, roles and responsibilities for achieving technical assurance and technical integrity on the project.
  • Ensuring the technical team are well versed and familiarized with the requirements of the applicable codes and standards of the project. Specifically, requirements associated with NFPA59A and 49CFR193.
  • Managing the delivery of engineering documentation to support the full life cycle performance of the project including demonstration testing, requirements for PSSR and documents to support the handover to the Operations teams.
  • Monitoring the implementation of the licensors design requirements into the LNG plant design.
  • Implementation of formal safety reviews such as HAZOP, LOPA, 3D plant model development and constructability.
  • Ensuring technical compliance with Project Codes and Standards.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead high-performing teams, manage stakeholders, and resolve complex technical challenges under pressure.
