Job description

The Coherent Aerospace & Defense Inc, Emerging Products & Technologies Business Unit is seeking a Program Manager to lead various Directed Energy and Active Sensing development programs and capture new business. The program manager will be responsible for the completion of a High Energy Laser Subsystem and managing all phases of the program life cycle from inception through startup, execution, and completion.

This position is remote and will support the Longmont, CO and Dayton, OH areas.

Responsibilities:
  • Management of cost, schedule, and technical performance of the organization programs at various levels of complexity.
  • Measuring and reporting program performance.
  • Supporting contract negotiations, modifications, statement of work development, and budget development.
  • Ensuring the program team understands and adheres to contract scope.
  • Supporting program P&L forecast and adherence.
  • Responsibility for completion and submittal of program deliverables.
  • Preparation and delivering briefings on program status to stakeholders.
  • Managing program materials and inventory.
  • Managing suppliers to meet program objectives.
  • Collaborating across many IPTs and enterprise-wide business areas.
  • Leading a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Coordinating with Engineering, Quality, Security, IT, and Facilities.
  • Preparing and delivering competitive cost and technical proposals.
  • Supporting growth strategy development.
  • Cultivating customer and stakeholder relationships.
  • Managing complex developments in the EP&T organization.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 15+ years of relevant experience, master’s degree and 12 years, or PhD and 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong background in Directed Energy.
  • Demonstrated success as a project manager or program manager.
  • Experience leading teams and aligning organization goals with employee objectives.
  • Experience with lasers and optical systems.
  • Experience with high impact rapid acquisition customers.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
Skills:
  • Must have or able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Working Conditions:

Primarily an engineering design function with office working conditions.

Physical Requirements:

Primarily an engineering design function with few physical requirements.
