Job description

The Sr PreMedia Production Artist is responsible for creating print-ready files, utilizing the highest production quality standards, exceeding client expectations, mentoring PreMedia Production Artists, and working/meeting with clients in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  1. Create print-ready layouts for signage using client-provided data and style guidance.
  2. Assemble all elements of documents, ensuring quality typography.
  3. Apply proper color breaks and trapping when necessary.
  4. Manage graphics placement and photo requirements (resolution, ink limit).
  5. Ensure appropriate print specifications for technically accurate final deliverable files.
  6. Render logos and artwork to meet print-ready specifications.
  7. Maintain general knowledge of workflows and procedures for the assigned area.
  8. Understand Mac environment.
  9. Read and follow internal markup and customer instructions.
  10. Collaborate creatively and openly with project managers and/or art teams.
  11. Notify relevant parties promptly of challenges affecting quality, schedule, or budgets.
  12. Discuss approaches and methods to achieve departmental goals.
  13. Review and improve current production processes for efficiencies.
  14. Provide clear instructions to team members.
  15. Work/meet with clients to maximize project efficiencies.
  16. Mentor PreMedia Production Artists and hold bi-monthly meetings to ensure progress.
Qualifications:

Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 7+ years industry experience.
  • Mastery of creating and working with templates and style sheets, including page formatting, photo and artwork placement, and producing multiple versions.
  • Mastery of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
  • Understanding of print processes and production methods to ensure designs are print-ready.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
