Job Title: Sr. Procurement Specialist – Procurement Sourcing Specialist/Analyst
Location: Sylmar, CA – 100% Onsite
Job Summary
We are seeking a Sr. Procurement Specialist – Procurement Sourcing Specialist/Analyst to support strategic procurement and supply chain initiatives in a medical device environment. This role will lead multiple procurement and supply chain projects involving supplier sourcing and evaluation, data analysis, supplier communication, contract and pricing negotiations, risk mitigation, and cross-functional collaboration.
The ideal candidate will have a strong procurement, supply chain, technical project management, finance, or engineering background, along with strong analytical, communication, presentation, and project management skills. The ability to analyze complex information and present clear findings to senior and executive-level stakeholders is essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple supply chain projects simultaneously, including supplier risk mitigation and supply chain resilience initiatives.
- Analyze supplier quotes, bids, RFQs, and RFPs and recommend options based on total cost.
- Source and evaluate mechanical and electrical suppliers for medical device components.
- Lead contract negotiations, pricing discussions, and vendor onboarding activities.
- Manage procurement requests, purchase orders, and supplier communications.
- Track project milestones, procurement timelines, and cost savings.
- Support tariff mitigation strategies and identify opportunities for second sourcing.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and regulatory teams to support supplier compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of sourcing decisions, contracts, and supplier performance.
- Ensure procurement activities align with medical device industry standards and internal quality systems.
- Define and coordinate project resources across scope, charter, execution, escalation, post-implementation, and closure phases.
- Perform cross-functional risk analyses and develop mitigation strategies to strengthen supply chain resilience.
- Direct project execution by assigning tasks, tracking schedules, identifying risks, and developing contingency plans.
- Support project teams with problem solving, data visualization, and KPI development.
- Prepare project status reports and participate in departmental and customer project status meetings.
- Resolve project issues in collaboration with team members, stakeholders, customers, and other appropriate parties.
- Break down complex projects and issues and present findings in a clear, digestible format to stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Interface with senior management on significant matters and coordinate activities across organizational units.
- Establish priorities and independently exercise sound judgment in managing project assignments.
- Perform other supply chain project-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, finance, operations management, business administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4+ years of experience in engineering, technical project management, procurement, supply chain, finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical skills, including data processing and data visualization.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyze and communicate information effectively to executive-level stakeholders.
- Thorough understanding of engineering, procurement, supply chain, and project-related activities and their interfaces and interdependencies.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and meet schedules without direct supervision.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and work independently when required.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and adapt to evolving project requirements.
- Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.
- Commitment to applicable safety and environmental guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in medical device manufacturing or medical device supply chain.
- Prior procurement and/or procurement analyst experience.
Work Requirements
- This is a 100% onsite position in Sylmar, California.
- Selected candidate will be expected to start as soon as applicable screening requirements have been completed.
