Sr. Process Control Engineer (Finance)



Job Overview: Linde is launching a new world-class hydrogen plant in Beaumont, TX! Join us in this exciting journey. We are building and will operate an on-site complex supplying clean hydrogen and nitrogen to a major client in Beaumont, TX. Our facility will integrate into the U.S. Gulf Coast industrial gas infrastructure and support decarbonization efforts through clean hydrogen and carbon capture technologies.

Provide technical and project support for process control systems in the HYCO business. Report to the HYCO Process Controls Engineering Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Support process control and monitoring systems for hydrogen and carbon monoxide facilities, including SMR, ATR, and ASU units.
  2. Lead and execute moderately complex engineering projects independently.
  3. Coordinate with Linde Engineering Americas to ensure project standards and policies are met.
  4. Participate in planning control system upgrades to prevent obsolescence.
  5. Handle project engineering from design to implementation, adhering to Linde standards.
  6. Serve as a technical lead and provide guidance on projects.
  7. Make independent decisions considering viability and cost benefits.
  8. Develop innovative process control solutions for chronic issues.
  9. Support hardware/software, instrumentation, and process engineering for field personnel.
  10. Assist in training, troubleshooting, environmental compliance, RCA, and maintenance related to control systems.
  11. Implement control system changes following MOC protocols.
  12. Contribute to long-range capital planning, especially for control system upgrades.
  13. Demonstrate technical independence, project management, and leadership.
  14. Lead project aspects involving control systems and ensure equipment meets standards.
  15. Represent the US HYCO business in cybersecurity initiatives.
  16. Develop and execute functional test procedures.
  17. Provide off-hours support for control system issues.
  18. Serve as SME in SRS, SIL ratings, and ISA84 requirements.
  19. Travel nationally up to 25% for support.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in Engineering or 10+ years in Control Systems or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of chemical industry experience.
  • Knowledge of process automation and complex control strategies.
  • Understanding of continuous chemical processes.
  • Familiarity with primary instrumentation and schematic wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with process control content of P&I diagrams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expertise in control system software (e.g., Foxboro, Emerson Delta V, Siemens PCS7).
  • Virtualization experience (DeltaV Virtual Studio, HyperV).
  • Knowledge of hydrogen processes (SMR, ATR) and Air Separation Units.
  • Project management and advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with capital projects, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning.
  • Experience with SCADA platforms like GE iFIX.
  • Polyglot programming skills (Python, C++, Java).
  • Ability to develop control narratives, cause and effect diagrams, and operator graphics.
  • Experience with device communication protocols (Serial, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, Profibus).
