Job summary

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Principal RF Design Engineer to lead development of RF/microwave power amplifier modules for wireless applications. The role emphasizes design, simulation, characterization, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to bring new products to manufacturing.

The candidate will work with ADS/HFSS tools, perform load-pull analyses, and contribute to robust, high-volume production-ready designs in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering required.
• 10+ years of RF semiconductor experience preferred.
• ADS and HFSS EM simulation experience required.
• Experience in RF circuit design required.
• Familiarity with RF measurement equipment (spectrum/network analyzers) is required.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, develop, characterize RF/microwave power amplifiers for wireless applications.
• Create input/output/interstage matching networks to optimize gain, efficiency and linearity.
• Conduct load-pull, source-pull, harmonic balance, stability, and EM simulations.
• Interface with filter/switch designers and product engineering to improve yields and introduce new products.
• Lead design reviews and guide RF technicians in implementation and testing.

Responsibilities

• Work in a fast-paced team environment developing modules for wireless communications applications. Job responsibilities include design, simulation, development, characterization, and production support of RF and microwave power amplifiers used in wireless communications. Design input, output, and interstage matching networks to optimize gain, efficiency, bandwidth, and linearity. Conduct load-pull, source-pull, harmonic balance, stability, and EM simulations.
• The position will interface with filter designers and and Switch designer and working with product engineering to improve yields and help introduce new products to manufacturing.
• Simulation tools such as Agilent ADS, and HFSS will be used for design and Module laminate.
• Act as liaison between design engineering, product engineering and characterization engineering to ensure designs are robust and have margin for high volume production.
• Responsible for all aspects of circuit design and product development, including working as a technical leader with team to find optimum solutions to the problems, feedback on specification and assigning work responsibility to RF technicians.
• Characterize and validate design and work on Test benches including Sig Gen, Spec An, Power Meter, VNA and probe-station to test and evaluate modules.

Required Experience and Skills

Qualifications:

• M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
• 10+ years of experience in RF semiconductors is a must, laminate experience desirable.
• ADS, and HFSS EM simulation experience is a mandatory.
• Experience in RF circuit design.
• Must be experienced with RF measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzers and network analyzers.

Desired Experience and Skills

• Excellent speaking, presentation skills a must, ability to clearly communicate technical and/or logistic issues and solutions.
• Detail oriented to ensure design and delivery of high yielding products.
• Be able to enjoy working in fast paced work environment.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD$135,900 -$295,000 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others. Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock.
