Sr. Plastics Engineer, Tooling and Process

We are seeking a Sr. Plastics Engineer specializing in Tooling and Process to join our team in Newark, CA. The role requires up to 25% travel domestically and internationally.

Qualifications:

• B.S. in polymer engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years' experience evaluating DFM and injection molding tool designs.
• Strong knowledge of injection tooling technologies such as in-mold decoration, foaming, overmolding, back-injection, and vario-thermal processes.
• Experience with DFM process for automotive A-surface parts.
• Proficiency with flow simulation software like Autodesk MoldFlow.
• Hands-on experience with plastic injection molding processes and optimization.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Role:

• Contribute to a vehicle engineering team by providing plastics tooling expertise and managing polymer-related aspects from DFM to product launch.
• Collaborate with design engineers and suppliers, advising on process feasibility, tooling, efficiency, and cost.
• Evaluate flow studies and mold designs prior to tool approval.
• Ensure tooling compliance with OEM standards.
• Maintain thorough documentation.
• Support internal teams and represent OEM material interests with suppliers, including on-site visits.
