We’re looking for an experienced Closures Structures Engineer to join our team and drive the design and development of world-class automotive closure systems—from blank page to production.

If you have a passion for engineering excellence and hands-on experience designing complex systems like hoods, fenders, doors, liftgates, and decklids, we want to hear from you!

• Design and develop closures systems (e.g., hoods, doors, liftgates) with an emphasis on aluminum or composite materials
• Own the design from concept to production, ensuring optimal performance, durability, weight, and cost
• Collaborate across internal teams and external suppliers to deliver efficient, innovative solutions
• Interface with cross-functional teams: Manufacturing, Vehicle Safety, NVH, CAE, Design Studio, and more
• Use engineering tools and analysis (e.g., GD&T, CAE, FEA, benchmarking) to guide and validate designs
• Coordinate virtual and physical testing plans to ensure product meets performance targets
• Support prototype and production assembly, and even assemble your own parts when needed
• Analyze and benchmark section properties, materials, and processes for competitiveness
• Work closely with Purchasing, Supplier Quality, and Stamping teams on tooling and part changes
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in automotive closures systems at OEM or supplier level
• Proven system-level integration and product development expertise
• Strong 3D CAD skills – preferably in CATIA V5/V6
• Knowledge of Class A surfaces, materials (e.g., castings, stampings, extrusions), and manufacturing processes
• Hands-on experience with prototype and production assembly
• Ability to use and interpret CAE tools: ANSYS, OptiStruct, MATLAB, ADAMS, etc.
• Excellent problem-solving skills grounded in engineering first principles
• Experience with engineering change management and project management
• Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent closures experience)
