Job description

Sr. People Operations Business Partner- California

The Senior People Operations Business Partner (Sr. POBP) will serve an important role in support of People Operations processes centered around talent, performance, succession, employee relations, and strategic planning. The Sr. POBP will partner with the Director of People Operations and Field RVP to conceive, design, and implement solutions to advance the capabilities of employees across all levels and will be leading efforts such as performance management and leadership development. This position will drive change and will create an adoption environment centered around AEG values and People First culture. This position will cover the state of California.

The Sr. POBP will assess and anticipate Talent needs, conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations, and offer consultative coaching and mentoring centered around proactively bringing Talent and leaders to improved communication and collaboration between each other.

  • Maintains knowledge of state, federal, and law requirements related to employee and business operations.
  • Strives to reduce legal risk using performance management methodologies, behavioral interviewing, leadership development of others, and conflict resolution methodologies. Ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Assesses and anticipates Talent needs.
  • Maintains an effective level of business literacy.
  • Positively and gracefully serves field leaders by offering leadership coaching and mentoring.
  • Partners with AEG Integrations department to advise and successfully onboard new locations in California while following all applicable local, state and federal laws. Serves as a brand ambassador while participating in town halls and practice visits.
  • Serves as a consultant to field management on organization-wide employee-related issues.
  • Ensures Practice Managers are in compliance with California-related legal requirements.
  • Maintains a list of on-call employees for state requirements where applicable.
  • Determines from scheduling software and ADP HRIS when payment is required for changes in schedules.
  • Manages termination process for all California employees, complying with state Final Pay regulations.
  • Ensures proper documentation and notification is provided upon hire and termination.
  • Manages multiple Leave of Absence (LOA) requirements and provides guidance to employees with LOA requests; regular FMLA; California state-specific LOA programs.
  • Works with Payroll to coordinate California leave programs and employer contributions.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues.
  • Conducts effective, concise, thorough, and bias-free, objective investigations.
  • Provides HR-related trainings to field managers as needed.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all HR-related duties in new acquisitions.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in human resources, with at least 3-5 years as an HR Business Partner, preferably in industries with a significant presence in California.
  • Degree in Human Resources or Organizational Development preferred
  • Professional in Human Resources – California required
  • Experience with California-specific employment regulations required
  • Experience in Mergers and Acquisitions preferred
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Ability to build relationships that foster trust and credibility
  • Excellent coaching and feedback skills
  • Solid experience consulting with executives and managers on real-time problems
  • Ability to work on different types of work rapidly; ability to pivot quickly
  • Skilled presenter, facilitator, and communicator
  • Ability to design and execute on projects
  • Ability to travel 30% to 75% if needed
  • Strongly prefer to be California home based

Pay Range: $100K to $120K per year
