Job summary

Mphasis is seeking an experienced Wire Operations Specialist to lead and coordinate high-value wire transfers, domestic and international, ensuring accuracy and timely settlement in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 4+ years in banking operations, strong knowledge of Fedwire, SWIFT and CHIPS, plus OFAC/AML compliance, risk mitigation, and the ability to communicate with banks, vendors, and auditors.

Responsibilities

• Process and authorize complex domestic and international wires; ensure high-value and exception wires are executed accurately and timely.
• Monitor daily wire activity; ensure timely settlement and resolve exceptions.
• Resolve suspicious activity or compliance concerns per internal policies.
• Serve as primary contact for escalated wire issues; work with internal departments and external institutions.
• Mentor Wire Operations Specialists and provide training on procedures and system functionality.
• Prepare for internal audits, regulatory reviews and process testing.
• Identify initiatives to streamline workflows and reduce error; enhance operational efficiency.

• Candidate should have minimum 4+ Years of work experience in Payment Processing
• Advanced knowledge of: Wires Systems, core banking platforms, compliance and fraud screening tools
• Ability to lead or coordinate projects
• Familiarity with write transfer systems: Fedwire, SWIFT, CHIPS
• Understanding of risk-mitigation in high-value transaction processing
• Experience using bank platforms, Fiserv, FIS, Finastra or similar core banking systems
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with internal and external clients in a clear and concise manner
• Proficiency in bank account validation, exception handling, reconciliation, and settlement processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving payment failures, variances, and investigations.
• Understandingfraud control mechanisms, OFAC/AML compliance, and risk-mitigation procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and adherence to internal controls and dual authorization workflows.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with banks, vendors, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to operate in high-volume, deadline-driven environments while maintaining accuracy.
• Wire Processing and Oversight: Process and authorize complex domestic and international wires; ensure high-value and exception wires are executed accurately and timely.
• Monitoring Wire Activity: Monitor daily incoming and outgoing wire activity to ensure timely settlement and resolution to any exceptions to ensure all transactions are processed accurately and within established deadlines and SLA’s.
• Risk Monitoring and Regulatory Compliance: Resolve any suspicious activity or compliance concerns per internal policies and procedures
• Issue Resolution and Investigations: Serve as a primary contract for escalated wire issues, client exceptions, departmental issues. Work with internal departments and external institutions to resolve discrepancies.
• Mentor Wire Operations Specialists, provide training and support on procedures, compliance updated and system functionality.
• Monitor daily report and system queues, assist in preparation for internal audits, regulatory reviews and process testing.
• Identify and lead initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce error, and enhance operational efficiency within the Wire Operations Unit.
• Uses knowledge-based judgement and discretion to make decisions regarding wire processing.
• Analyzes and resolves problems pertaining to wire processing.
• Develop and update SOPs, process documentation, and audit artifacts, supporting continuous improvement, internal controls testing, and operational efficiency initiatives.

Technical / Non-Technical Skills:

• Excellent MS Office skills – MS Excel, Power Point, Excel Macros and E Mail Drafting
• Good Typing Speed of 28 WPM with >=95% accuracy
• Excellent Communication skills – to Review Email, to attend Client Calls, Onshore Training etc

Behavioral Skills:

• Working Hours – should be flexible to do Over Time duty if required.

Certifications Needed:

• Minimum experience required: 4+ Years in banking operations, specifically with wire transfer processing, both domestic and international
• Demonstrated expertise with wire transfer systems
• Experience handling high-value transactions with minimal supervision
• Prior experience working in a regulated financial environment with exposure to risk controls and compliance procedures
