Job Summary
Morae Packaging is seeking a Sr. Packaging Engineer, reporting to the General Manager - USA. This collaborative role will lead the packaging development process from concept to production. The Sr. Packaging Engineer is responsible for developing top-quality products that meet or exceed cost, quality, functional, and aesthetic standards. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with chemists from our sister company to conduct compatibility testing on packaging.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the entire package development and commercialization process, including performance testing and internal item setup.
- Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to optimize packaging for cost, timing, quality, regionalization, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
- Troubleshoot issues related to designs, materials, and processes, providing creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
- Validate engineering drawings and specifications to determine physical characteristics, handling, environmental and safety requirements, and material needs.
- Create testing protocols and implement efficiency tools to ensure technical readiness.
- Review and validate stock components and perform critical dimension checks for custom tooling.
- Coordinate with the Morae Korea Sr. Packaging Engineer on custom tooling components.
- Communicate project status effectively to leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Serve as liaison between internal resources and vendors to execute package development.
- Lead cross-functional teams from product conception through to launch.
- Manage multiple product categories and customer scopes, coordinating different timelines, processes, and teams, including componentry, process engineering, and customer service.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in product design, packaging, or related engineering fields.
- 8+ years of experience in industrial or consumer packaging development.
- Experience in developing lifestyle, beauty, or cosmetic packaging.
- Knowledge of product development practices, manufacturing processes, and capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, SolidWorks, and CAD.
- Ability to work collaboratively and take ownership of projects.
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to handle tasks of all sizes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
