Job Description

The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the department or departments assigned in an industrial metals manufacturing facility. This includes ensuring that production goals are met, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility, and leading a team of shift supervisors and employees to ensure that all safety and quality standards are met. The Sr Operations Manager will also be responsible for implementing lean manufacturing principles and practices to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop and implement operational plans to meet production goals
2. Oversee day-to-day operations of the facility
3. Lead a team of employees in all aspects of production
4. Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
5. Implement lean manufacturing principles and practices
6. Monitor performance metrics to identify areas for improvement
7. Develop strategies to reduce costs and increase efficiency
8. Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supply
9. Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• B.S. degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university required
• Lean/6S Blackbelt Training (e.g., 5S, Standard Work, SMED, TPM, VSM, DMAIC Projects)
• 10+ years of experience in heavy industrial manufacturing, specifically working with equipment-based manufacturing in a fast-paced environment with high-frequency equipment set-ups and changeovers
• Some union experience required
• Strong work ethic; expected to be on the plant floor frequently and conduct daily Gemba Walks with the shift supervisor and Director of Operations
• Analytical mindset; comfortable working with and leveraging data
• Experience with KPI/Tier Board management (e.g., hour-by-hour, SQDCIP) to drive continuous improvement
