Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in diesel mechanics or related field.
  • Must possess and supply necessary hand tools for the job.
  • Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) and 608/609 certifications within 18 months.

We are supported by a 24/7 in-house call-center and provide scheduled maintenance services and unscheduled services to fleets anywhere, anytime.

Fleet Services is currently hiring a Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician.

The Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Heavily relied upon for advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Mobile Diesel Technician I/II. Considered the Lead on jobsites by customers and Technicians. Functions as a consultant on the customer's behalf. A successful Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician complies with all company policies and achieves high level performance metrics.

DUTIES:
  1. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT Inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  2. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc.
  3. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment, similar to the above, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  4. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, ensuring proper operation.
  5. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify repairs.
  6. Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate solutions using sound judgment.
  7. Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck, including periodic reconciliation.
  8. Maintain and operate the service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections.
  9. Engage effectively with clients to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and meet expectations.
  10. Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  11. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  12. Document work according to company standards, upload pictures, and record findings using company devices and applications.
  13. Complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.
  14. Work independently, managing daily schedules effectively.
  15. Maintain productivity within standard repair times.
  16. Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed.
  17. Communicate with management and support teams for approvals and discussions.
  18. Perform all work following safety, health, environmental policies, and regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
  19. Maintain the company-issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and perform daily inspections.
REQUIREMENTS:
  1. High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field, or alternative combinations of education and experience as specified.
  2. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
  3. Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
  4. Obtain 608/609 certification within 18 months.
  5. Pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and physical.
  6. Possess a valid DOT medical card or submit a valid one with sufficient validity.
  7. Be at least 21 years old to comply with interstate commerce regulations.
  8. Have a clean 3-year MVR review, hold a valid driver’s license, and meet DOT driver qualifications.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS OR OBTAINED WITHIN 18 MONTHS:
  • ASE T8 (PMI)
  • ASE 608/609
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:
  • ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, A8, L1
