Job Description Summary
Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to qualify donors for the plasma pheresis process.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist qualified donors in completing the screening process in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This includes assessing health history, answering medical questions, referring donors to medical staff when needed, and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature measurements. Perform finger stick tests to obtain hematocrit and total protein levels.
- Educate new donors about therapeutic products made from plasma, explain the screening process, health tests, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, nutrition, and answer any questions professionally and accurately.
- Register applicants and transfer donors as trained, based on operational needs.
- Answer phone calls and provide appropriate information to callers.
- Monitor donors during and after the pheresis process for reactions and notify staff if needed.
- Conduct daily calibration of equipment and troubleshoot issues according to SOPs.
- Replace or remove malfunctioning equipment and document incidents.
- Provide guidance and training to staff as required.
- Notify supervisors of donor flow issues.
- Record donor data accurately in the electronic management system as per SOPs.
- Understand policies related to hyperimmune programs if applicable.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked work environment, following HSE and OSHA policies. Conduct routine audits as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- Cross-train in other areas to support center operations.
- Possibly utilize bilingual skills to meet organizational needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 18 months experience in clerical or customer service roles, preferably in a healthcare environment, or equivalent education and experience.
- Basic math skills required.
Working Conditions
- Ability to understand, remember, and apply instructions.
- Good communication skills for routine information exchange.
- Visual and verbal ability to interact with customers and monitor equipment.
- Stand and walk frequently, up to 100% of the time.
- Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and perform manual tasks.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
- Exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment as required.
- Overtime and extended hours may be necessary.
