Job summary

Skills Alliance in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its team delivering water treatment and liquid process solutions for industrial and healthcare customers. Responsibilities

  • Lead and support capital projects from $1M to $20M, delivering on schedule and budget.
  • Review engineering docs including P&IDs, drawings, schematics and vendor specs.
  • Review BOMs for compliance with standards and project requirements.
  • Perform pump selection, hydraulic calculations, valve sizing, instrumentation selection and equipment specs.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, datasheets and vendor documentation.
  • Support procurement activities including RFQ reviews and vendor evaluations.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers and project teams throughout execution.
  • Assist with proposal development, budgeting, labor estimates and costing.

Job description

A leading provider of water treatment and process filtration solutions is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing engineering team. For more than 50 years, our client has delivered innovative solutions to customers across the food & beverage, healthcare, and industrial sectors, helping them improve productivity, reduce operating costs, and meet sustainability objectives.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with a background in water treatment, wastewater treatment, or liquid process systems to play a key role in the delivery of capital projects ranging from $1M to $20M. You'll work closely with project managers, customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle while helping drive technical excellence across the business.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the execution of capital projects, ensuring delivery on schedule, within budget, and to customer expectations.
  • Review and approve engineering documentation, including P&IDs, fabrication drawings, schematics, and other project drawings.
  • Review Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure compliance with engineering standards and project requirements.
  • Perform pump selection, hydraulic calculations, valve sizing, instrumentation selection, and equipment specification activities.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, datasheets, and vendor documentation.
  • Support procurement activities, including vendor selection, RFQ reviews, technical evaluations, and material tracking.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and project teams throughout project execution.
  • Assist with proposal development, budgeting, labor estimates, and equipment costing activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience within water treatment, wastewater treatment, or fluid process engineering environments.
Required Skills
  • Experience working with pumps, piping systems, valves, instrumentation, and process equipment.
  • AutoCAD experience is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.
