Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Sr Mechanical Engineer to join our team!

Lake Superior Consulting is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to lead a wide range of mechanical design projects supporting energy infrastructure-including pipeline facilities and systems from inception through delivery.

As a key technical leader, you’ll bring your engineering expertise to bear on every stage of a project—from concept through delivery. You’ll collaborate across disciplines, guide project teams, and work directly with clients to solve complex challenges with practical solutions. If you're a seasoned engineer looking for more variety, responsibility, and a voice in technical decision-making, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the mechanical design of energy-related facilities and systems—from front-end engineering through final delivery.
  • Serve as mechanical lead on moderate to large-sized projects; provide direction to project teams and junior engineers.
  • Oversee development of mechanical drawing packages, estimates, and project documentation.
  • Perform and review engineering calculations, design analyses, and detailed technical reports.
  • Develop and interpret P&IDs, technical drawings, schematics, and equipment specifications.
  • Maintain a deep working knowledge of relevant codes (e.g., ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8), materials, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate closely with CAD designers to ensure drawing packages meet construction requirements.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and assist in developing best operating practices.
  • Assess project risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and support the planning and execution of high-value consulting solutions.
  • Identify business development opportunities and contribute to proposal and scope development.
  • Approve and stamp engineering designs (PE required).

What You Bring:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license – required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with a strong background in the oil & gas or energy sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and guide junior staff.
  • Proven track record of executing complex projects with minimal oversight.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with a consulting mindset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
