Job summary

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Senior Mechanisms Engineer to research, design, analyze, and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems across complex projects. You will own specific mechanical subsystems and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure rigorous technical delivery.

You will contribute to engineering documents, 3D models, and drawings while coordinating with procurement, manufacturing, and test teams to validate hardware. A security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading a small technical team in a collaborative environment with strong communication.
• 2–3 years of demonstrated understanding of structures, mechanisms and materials.
• Robust GD&T knowledge per ASME Y14.5 and tolerance analysis ability.
• Experience with solid models and drawings using 3D CAD software; vendor interface and configuration control.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance; US citizenship required.

• Develop, review, and maintain engineering documents, specifications, and technical analyses, including 3D solid models and 2D drawings.
• Be a member of multiple integrated product teams, reciprocally interacting with other engineers, adjacent functions, suppliers, and stakeholders, to support products through the entire engineering lifecycle.
• Represent the organization in design reviews, readiness reviews, and review boards.
• Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, and test personnel to supervise the build and validation of hardware in a production environment.
• Traveling occasionally to supplier sites or other locations to validate parts, resolve issues, and provide support on site.

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education with commensurate years of professional experience
• Prior experience leading a small technical team in a collaborative and team-based environment using good verbal and written communication skills
• 2-3 years of demonstrated understanding of structures, mechanisms and materials and the application of Mechanical Engineering principles, theories and concepts
• Robust knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and ability to perform complex detailed part and subsystem tolerance analysis
• Experience with solid model and drawing creation using 3D computer-aided design software, specification development, vendor interface, parts selection, and configuration control
• Ability to obtain a security clearance; US citizenship required

Desired Skills

• Prior experience with complex mechanical subsystems and associated interfaces with other systems
• Understanding and ability to apply advanced Mechanical Engineering principles, theories, and concepts
• Experience with the production, test, and integration of mechanical systems
• Active security clearance
• Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00

• For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
