Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design in-space propulsion subsystems and related mechanical systems. The role requires coordinating with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and internal teams including manufacturing, quality and systems engineering.

The position emphasizes CREO modeling, EPDM data workflows, and strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences. A relevant engineering degree and 1+ year of experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 1+ year of professional work experience.
  • Mechanical CAD modelling and drafting using CREO or similar software with EPDM data management.
  • Understanding of mechanical and propulsion engineering principles.
  • Experience with basic drafting techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design in-space propulsion subsystems and related mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate with customers, suppliers, test facilities and manufacturing teams.
  • Develop mechanical products and systems for energy transmission and use.
  • Apply research to planning, design, development and testing of mech/electro-mechanical systems.

This job requires coordination with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related fields including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or in a related technical discipline.
  • 1+ year expereince in a professional work environment
  • Mechanical CAD modeling and/or drafting design experience using CREO or similar software and releasing engineering through EPDM or other data management system.
  • Understanding of mechanical and propulsion engineering principles and processes.
  • Experience with basic drafting techniques and requirements.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
Desired Skills
  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing
  • Experience with tolerance stack analysis
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
  • Hardware Design experience
  • DFx
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00 At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
