Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to lead setup of assembly lines and drive process improvements in our Milwaukee area client site.

You will coordinate product introductions to the floor, establish standards, and apply Lean/Six Sigma to reduce waste while improving quality and safety. 5–12 years of experience and CAD proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering or related field required; Master’s preferred for advancement.
• 5–12 years of manufacturing engineering experience in large assembly operations.
• Proficient CAD skills (Pro-E/Creo) and standard office software.

Responsibilities

• Lead setup of assembly lines, establish processes and documentation.
• Coordinate introduction of products to manufacturing floor and integrate new processes.
• Develop operation method standards for efficient assembly.
• Apply lean manufacturing and continuous improvement to reduce waste and improve safety and quality.
• Troubleshoot production line issues and lead cost reduction initiatives.
• Support line layout, tooling, and part flow optimization; justify capital equipment.

As the link between design engineering and the production floor you provide the manufacturing expertise needed to implement the production of new products as well as processing changes to existing products. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

What you will be doing:

• Take the lead on setup assembly line, establish processes and documentation
• Bring mobile equipment products from design hand-off to completion
• Plan, support, and lead introduction of products to the manufacturing floor. Manages the integration of new products into existing lines with an understanding of new processes that affect online balance, pFMEA, and line efficiency.
• Lead the development of Operation Method Standards (i.e. how best to assemble products)
• Uses advanced understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts needed for reduction of waste within manufacturing processes
• Troubleshoot production line problems
• Lead initiatives that mitigate risk, maintain ISO compliance, and reduce costs
• Lead design initiatives within the manufacturing process, including line / cell layout, tooling and part flow
• Capital equipment justification
• Work to advance safety and ergonomic practices

What they are looking for

• BS Engineering, a Master’s would be great
• 5 to 12 years of experience in manufacturing engineering in a large assembly operation
• Proficient computer skills including CAD (Pro-E / Creo would be great), Word, Excel, and Access
• Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma
• Ideally, prior experience establishing in assembly line from concept into production
