Job summary

Company, a major player in heavy mobile equipment, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer in Milwaukee to develop, implement, and improve factory processes. You will bridge design engineering and production, ensuring production capability, quality, cost reduction, safety, and throughput improvements. Reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities include leading line setup, introducing new products to the floor, and driving ISO compliance and cost reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in Engineering; Lean/Six Sigma beneficial.
• 5–12 years manufacturing engineering experience in large assembly operations.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (Pro-E/Creo) and MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead on setup assembly line, establish processes and documentation.
• Bring mobile equipment products from design hand-off to completion.
• Plan, support, and lead introduction of products to the manufacturing floor; manage integration into existing lines.
• Lead development of Operation Method Standards for assembly processes.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing and CI concepts to reduce waste in manufacturing processes.
• Lead initiatives to mitigate risk, maintain ISO compliance, and reduce costs.
• Lead design initiatives within manufacturing, including line/cell layout, tooling and part flow.
• Justify capital equipment needs.
• Advance safety and ergonomic practices.

As the link between design engineering and the production floor you provide the manufacturing expertise needed to implement the production of new products as well as processing changes to existing products. This position is responsible for maintaining production capability, improving quality, reducing cost, improving safety, and maximizing throughout. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

What you will be doing:

• Take the lead on setup assembly line, establish processes and documentation
• Bring mobile equipment products from design hand-off to completion
• Plan, support, and lead introduction of products to the manufacturing floor. Manages the integration of new products into existing lines with an understanding of new processes that affect online balance, pFMEA, and line efficiency.
• Lead the development of Operation Method Standards (i.e. how best to assemble products)
• Uses advanced understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts needed for reduction of waste within manufacturing processes
• Lead initiatives that mitigate risk, maintain ISO compliance, and reduce costs
• Lead design initiatives within the manufacturing process, including line / cell layout, tooling and part flow
• Capital equipment justification
• Work to advance safety and ergonomic practices

What they are looking for

• BS Engineering, a Master’s would be great
• 5 to 12 years of experience in manufacturing engineering in a large assembly operation
• Proficient computer skills including CAD (Pro-E / Creo would be great), Word, Excel, and Access
• Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma
• Ideally, prior experience establishing in assembly line from concept into production
