Job summary

Universal Logistics Holdings, Inc. is seeking an Operations Manager in Kentucky to oversee day‑to‑day transportation and logistics performance, ensuring safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness for customers.

You will lead, coach and develop supervisory and hourly teams, monitor KPIs, ensure DOT compliance, partner with customers and internal stakeholders, and drive process improvements with clear reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience in logistics, transportation, or operations management.
• Strong leadership and team development skills.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety programs.
• Ability to analyze data and manage KPIs.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and logistics systems.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation and logistics performance

• Manage labor planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet service commitments
• Monitor key performance indicators, including productivity, service levels, and cost controls, and implement corrective actions as needed
• Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to address operational issues and support continuous improvement initiatives
• Develop and execute process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and service quality
• Prepare operational reports, analyze data trends, and communicate results to senior leadership
• Support onboarding, training, and performance management for team members

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop teams in a fast-paced environment
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations, safety programs, and transportation industry best practices
• Proven ability to analyze data, manage KPIs, and drive operational improvements
• Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management or operational systems
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
• Willingness to work flexible hours as required by operational needs
