OneOncology is seeking a Sr. Manager, Medical Coding to lead the Coding COE, oversee coding pods, and ensure timely submission of charges while driving efficiency and accuracy.

The role requires a professional coding certification, a Bachelor’s degree, and substantial supervisory experience; travel may be required. This is a remote-friendly leadership position with collaboration across compliance and provider teams.

Qualifications

  • Must have a professional coding certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; equivalent experience could be substituted.
  • 6+ years coding experience preferred.
  • 5+ years supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge of Medical Oncology/Radiation/Surgery coding highly preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to travel when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the workload of the COE coding pods to meet monthly goals.
  • Review KPI’s and benchmarks for coding teams; adjust productivity metrics as needed.
  • Serve as Coding SME to production coders and team members; provide escalation for coding queries.
  • Collaborate with RCM leadership and practice leaders on documentation and charge capture deficits.
  • Design workflows for optimal efficiency while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain policy and procedures impacting the coding teams; supervise managers and team leads.

The Senior Coding Manager will provide leadership and resource management for the coding department and collaborate with the compliance department and providers for their assigned practice pod. **Responsibilities:*** Oversee the workload of the COE coding pods in order to to meet monthly goals.* Review KPI’s and benchmarks for coding teams. Adjust productivity metrics as needed to support practice goals.* Serve as Coding SME to the production coders and other members of the One Oncology team.* Collaborate with RCM Leadership on any issues impacting the practice, OneOncology or staff keeping open lines of communication.* Collaborate with practice executive level leadership regarding documentation and charge capture deficits.* Design workflows for optimal efficiency while maintaining accuracy.* Monitor and evaluate key processes to identify opportunities for improvement* Investigate coding requirements for new procedures or drugs. Act as the point of escalation for coding queries.* Assist with development of templates, claims scrubbing edits and other software associated with charge capture and claim scrubbing,* Responsible for ensuring proper training for all new employees and ongoing training for current staff members.* Serve as a resource for team members and provide direction in resolving operational issues.* Oversee the practice management claim rules engine.* Manage month end close process including the completion of required reports in a timely and accurate manner.* Develop and maintain policy and procedures impacting the coding teams.* Directly supervise managers and team leads within the Coding COE practice pods.* Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate new ideas, resolve problems, obtain feedback and maintain the overall effectiveness of the staff.* Additional responsibilities as assigned to help drive our mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.**Required or Preferred Qualifications:*** Must have a Professional coding certification* Bachelor’s degree required.
