OneOncology is seeking a Sr. Medical Coding Specialist to lead daily review of visits, diagnoses, and oncology procedures for accurate CPT/ICD-10 coding. You will train new coders, audit physician documentation, and support coding compliance across the practice management and EMR systems.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in medical coding, oncology/radiation/surgery experience, and CPC/CCS-P certification. The role offers remote work options and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Must have a CPC, CCS-P, or other professional coding certification.
  • Minimum of 4 years coding experience required.
  • 2 years’ experience performing chart audits or assignment of CPT/ICD-10 codes in a physician practice/hospital environment.
  • 2 years’ experience coding Medical Oncology/Radiation/Surgery coding and E/M leveling required.
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, HCPCS coding and proper use of modifiers.
  • Knowledge of government programs (Medicare/Medicaid) and payer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Keep informed of current coding regulations and standards; apply to oncology coding.
  • Assist with third-party payor audits by compiling and reviewing chart documentation.
  • Collaborate with fellow coders on difficult cases; provide guidance on complex coding scenarios.
  • Mentor and train new coders to ensure consistent coding practices.
  • Perform E/M and CPT coding reviews and other projects for compliance.
  • Analyze data with leadership; propose strategies to resolve complex coding issues.
  • Communicate audit results and coding issues to practice leadership.
  • Assist with audit and entry of charges into EMR/Practice Management systems.

This role serves as a coding resource for team members by helping answer coding questions, assisting with complex coding scenarios, and supporting consistent application of coding guidelines.
