  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer relationship management skills.

Job Description

The Senior Manager for Network Services leads teams of networkengineering professionals responsible for the delivery, operation,maintenance, and continuous improvement of enterprise networkservices supporting the University of Missouri–Columbia, MU HealthCare, and University of Missouri System.

This position is responsible for leading these teams, informinglong-term network strategy, ensuring the availability, security,and performance of critical network services, and drivingtechnology modernization initiatives. The Senior Manager partnersclosely with institutional leadership, security, infrastructure,application, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable,scalable, and secure network services that support the university’sacademic, research, and healthcare missions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage departmental personnel, resources, priorities, andactivities to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing networkservices.
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and support of networkinfrastructure projects, technology upgrades, and operationalinitiatives.
  • Ensure network services meet established objectives foravailability, performance, capacity, reliability, andsecurity.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership, architecture, security, and othertechnology teams to execute technology roadmaps, provideoperational expertise, and inform future network investments andpriorities.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve operationalprocesses, standards, and service delivery practices to increaseefficiency, consistency, and service quality.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and institutional leaders to understand requirements, communicate priorities, and ensure services align withorganizational needs.
  • Lead response and recovery efforts during service interruptionsand critical incidents; oversee root cause analysis, correctiveactions, and continuous improvement activities to reduce risk andrecurring issues.
  • Manag employee performance, professional development, workforceplanning, and departmental training resources; coach and mentorstaff to support growth, engagement, and succession planning.
  • Assist with budget development, vendor management, contractoversight, and resource planning to support departmental goals andservice commitments.
Shift

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. Evening, weekend, or call-in work maybe required to meet deadlines and correct system failures.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science,Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination ofeducation and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills,and abilities can be acquired.
  • Five years of progressive experience supporting and managingcomplex enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Three years of experience leading, supervising, or managingtechnical staff.
  • Experience planning, implementing, and supporting large-scalenetwork technologies and services in a complex, multi-siteenvironment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing operational priorities, projects,vendors, and service delivery objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer relationshipmanagement skills.
  • Residence within the Columbia Missouri area is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Seven or more years of enterprise networking experience, includingnetwork engineering, architecture, or technical leadershipresponsibilities.
  • Three or more years of experience managing technical teams inhigher education, healthcare, or another large, complexorganization.
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed networks, datacenter networking, cloud connectivity, and network securitytechnologies.
  • Experience with budget management, vendor relationships, andcontract oversight.
  • Experience leading operational improvement, service management, orinfrastructure modernization initiatives.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $70,512 - $116,269; Commensurate withexperience

Grade: GGS-012
