Hiring Range: $46,093 - $50,836.00

Hours: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Water Management seeks a responsible individual with a good work ethic and a friendly personality to join our grounds maintenance team. As an equipment operator, you will be responsible for landscaping and maintaining over 60 lift stations, 4 treatment plants, 2 dams, tank lots, and the closed landfill. The team also provides backup support to Water & Sewer Maintenance teams for repairs on water lines, hydrants, and valves.

The successful candidate will have:

• Broad knowledge of landscaping methods
• Ability to operate a zero-turn mower
• Ability to operate tandem dump trucks for hauling rock, sand, mulch, and dirt

Experience with the following tools is preferred:

• Power tools including blowers, edgers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, power drills, impact drills, grease guns, reciprocating saws, etc.

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinating and performing landscaping operations, including assigning, inspecting, and maintaining grounds
• Maintaining supply inventory, stocking equipment, gathering information, preparing routine reports, maintaining records and databases, and ensuring work accuracy
• Providing customer service, responding to questions and concerns, resolving or escalating issues, and explaining policies and procedures

Minimum qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC)
• Three years of related experience
• North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Level B with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsements (not required at hire but must be obtained within 1 year; allowances granted for delays beyond control). A CDL Level A is required within 2 years of hire.

Additional requirements:

• OSHA safety training or certifications
• Experience with landscaping hand tools and zero-turn mowers
• Experience backing up trailers and tandem dump trucks
• Computer literacy with knowledge of CMMS
• Knowledge of hydrant and valve installation and maintenance is a plus
• Ability to operate power and hand tools responsibly with minimal supervision
