About You:

TheSeniorFleet Maintenance Technicianposition in the Park Maintenance Division is part of a dedicated and talented team responsible for preventative maintenance and upkeep of over 1200 pieces of equipment, maintenance and repair of Pullen Park and Chavis park.

Work Hours:

This position is expected to work Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm with on call after hours rotation as needed.
  • Identifies repair needs and performs skilled maintenance and repair of grounds maintenance vehicles and small engine equipment, and/or prepares related work orders for external repairs and service
  • Work may include performing external small equipment/grounds repair, body work and repair
  • Reviews repair work and applicable billing information; identifies repair issues or inconsistent billing/work order documentation; resolves issues; places appropriate identifying information on grounds vehicles and small engine equipment; reviews and closes out work orders
  • Gathers vendor information related to external repairs; determines vendors and initiates work orders; may deliver grounds maintenance vehicles or small engine equipment to vendors for repair work
  • Performs shop office support which may include: receiving calls and responding to inquiries; providing customer service; performing data entry; dispatching service; preparing reports; organizing and maintaining records, files, correspondence, parts and/or equipment
  • Providing light services on grounds maintenance equipment including checking oil, lights, tires, fan belts, and fluid levels, changing oil filters and lubricating vehicles
  • Picking up parts

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and three years of automotive parts experience

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Licensing and Certifications:
  • Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving recordor the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
  • Valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver's License with a satisfactory driving recordor the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
Knowledge of:
  • Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work
  • Basic automotive body repair methods, automotive parts requirements and specifications
  • Business math, basic inventory maintenance and filing and record keeping concepts
  • Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices
  • Uses and properties of supplies and equipment related to assignment
  • Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations
  • Modern office technology

ADA and Other Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with frequent exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.); frequent exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, blood and other body fluids); frequent exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment); frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and movement restrictions; and moderate exposure intense noise or travel.
