Position Summary:
Provides preventive maintenance, general servicing, repair, and troubleshooting on all packaging machinery to minimize interruptions in operations, extend asset life, and ensure employee safety.
Essential Functions:
- Communicates constantly with Technicians, line leads, and Production Management regarding tooling requirements, operational issues, and productivity issues.
- Attends all Production meetings to schedule line changeovers and determine part and configuration requirements.
- Assists in technical development and R&D for future packaging jobs.
- Directs set-ups and calibration of machines at start-up and between changeovers based on work order specifications.
- Ensures overall mechanical performance of packaging machines.
- Troubleshoots, investigates, and resolves equipment issues including root cause analysis.
- Follows up to ensure all repair work was performed correctly and equipment is in good working order.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Oversees and directs tune-ups on machines during production runs, ensuring no specifications have changed since start-up.
- Responds promptly to calls from Maintenance Technicians and the production manager, communicating status updates to the Production Manager and General Manager regarding repair work or parts needs.
- Complies with all safety rules and regulations.
- Reviews and conducts cycle counts of tools and parts inventories.
- Updates, maintains, and tracks equipment downtime.
Job Specifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working on industrial machinery or similar equipment.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Good leadership skills and ability to prioritize projects.
- Journeyman electrician preferred; 5 years of comparable experience acceptable.
- Ability to operate welding equipment.
- Ability to work from blueprints and schematic drawings.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and machine guarding.
- Physical ability to reach, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
