Job Title: Maintenance Planning Specialist (Electrical)

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Job Description Summary: Plans, organizes, and controls a defined portion of a planned maintenance operation for a university campus. Responsible for long‑term and daily planning, scheduling of maintenance activities, and maintaining an accurate inventory of building equipment and systems with focus on the electrical trade.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direction, focus, guidance, support, prioritization, and oversight for the electrical section of the maintenance program.
  • Ensure equipment and systems data are entered and maintained in CMMS.
  • Develop detailed maintenance procedures and daily work schedules.
  • Review maintenance plan program effectiveness and compile predictive analyses obtained by maintenance staff.
  • Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance (PM) program and equipment history.
  • Verify parts and materials needed for scheduled work and assemble the planned job package, including work orders, job plan details by task, safety, labor deployment plan by craft and skill, bill of materials, acquisition plan for parts procurement, required permits and clearances.
  • Print sketches, photos, special procedure specifications, sizes, tolerances, and other technical references.
Qualifications
  • Minimum nine months of training beyond high school in a relevant trade and three years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be a qualified driver under the university’s MVR policy.
  • Possible requirement of specialized training certificate for some positions.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of facility systems such as electrical, building automation, fire alarm, plumbing, HVAC, roof systems, and building structures.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and safe work practices.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, control drawings, and other technical data.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize, and make independent decisions.
  • Ability to maintain detailed and complete records of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with a wide range of persons.
  • Interpersonal communication skills to interact with university personnel and the public.
  • Proficiency with business application software, including word processor, spreadsheet, database programs, and experience with CMMS.
Working Conditions

Physical effort usually requires considerable walking, standing, and lifting materials weighing 25 to 50 pounds. Periodic assignments may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations and some personal risk due to accidents.
