Job summary

Paramount+ seeks a Sr Live Event Technology Specialist to act as the primary technical escalation point for global live event operations, diagnosing and resolving complex streaming issues across the end-to-end delivery chain. You will coordinate cross-functional incident response with engineering, CDN partners, and cloud vendors to minimize customer impact during high-profile broadcasts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years supporting large-scale live streaming, OTT platforms, broadcast technology, or video delivery systems.
• Experience serving as a technical escalation resource for live operations during Tier-1 events.
• Deep understanding of end-to-end streaming architectures and related technologies.
• Familiarity with AWS Media Services, CDN tech, cloud networking, and monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of contribution protocols (SRT, Zixi, RIST, RTP, UDP) and DRM/SSAI basics.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical escalation point for the Live Event Operations team during live events.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across the complete video delivery chain for global Tier-1 streams.
• Investigate service-impacting issues across contribution feeds, encoding, packaging, DRM, origin, CDN, and playback.
• Perform detailed technical analysis using manifests, logs, QoS/QoE metrics, and cloud data.
• Coordinate cross-functional incident response to restore service quickly.
• Lead technical bridge calls with real-time updates, impact assessments, and recovery plans.
• Provide technical guidance to Live Event Operators during event execution.
• Conduct pre-event validation, redundancy checks, and production readiness reviews.
• Conduct post-event RCA and drive corrective actions to improve reliability.
• Develop troubleshooting docs, runbooks, and monitoring procedures.

Sr Live Event Technology Specialist (Streaming Operations Specialist)

Role Overview

As a Sr. Live Event Technology Specialist, you will serve as the primary technical escalation point for Paramount+’s global Live Event Operations team, providing technical support for Tier-1 live streaming events. This role focuses on diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues across the end-to-end live streaming ecosystem while minimizing customer impact during high-profile live broadcasts.

Working alongside Live Event Operators, Engineering, Product, CDN providers, cloud vendors, and distribution partners, you will lead technical investigations, coordinate cross-functional incident response, and drive root cause analysis for issues affecting acquisition, encoding, packaging, delivery, playback, advertising, and platform integrations.

Your expertise will ensure rapid issue mitigation, operational excellence, and continuous improvements across Paramount’s live streaming platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical escalation point for the Live Event Operations team during live events.
• Support global Tier-1 live streaming events by troubleshooting complex issues across the complete video delivery chain.
• Investigate service-impacting issues involving contribution feeds, cloud encoding, packaging, DRM, origin, CDN delivery, playback, and client applications.
• Perform detailed technical analysis using streaming manifests, player logs, encoder metrics, QoS/QoE analytics, SCTE-35 signaling, transport stream analysis, and cloud monitoring tools.
• Coordinate technical response across Engineering, Platform, Network Operations, CDN providers, cloud vendors, and third-party partners to restore service quickly.
• Lead technical bridge calls during critical incidents, providing real-time updates, impact assessments, mitigation strategies, and recovery coordination.
• Support Live Event Operators by providing technical guidance during event execution, validating mitigation actions, and assisting with operational decision-making.
• Perform pre-event technical validation, redundancy verification, workflow testing, and production readiness reviews.
• Conduct post-event root cause analysis (RCA), identify systemic issues, and drive corrective actions to improve platform reliability.
• Develop and maintain troubleshooting documentation, operational runbooks, monitoring procedures, and knowledge base articles.
• Support certification, onboarding, and production rollout of new streaming technologies, cloud workflows, monitoring tools, and vendor integrations.
• Participate in on-call rotations supporting global live streaming operations and high-severity production incidents.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years supporting large-scale live streaming, OTT platforms, broadcast technology, or video delivery systems.
• Experience serving as a technical escalation resource supporting live operations teams during Tier-1 live events.
• Strong troubleshooting experience across end-to-end streaming architectures including:
  • Contribution and video transport
  • Cloud encoding and transcoding
  • Packaging and origin services
  • DRM
  • SSAI/DAI
  • CDN distribution
  • Player playback
• Deep understanding of HLS, DASH, CMAF/fMP4, MPEG-TS, SCTE-35, timed metadata, and adaptive bitrate streaming.
• Experience analyzing manifests, transport streams, encoder logs, player telemetry, QoS/QoE metrics, and cloud infrastructure metrics.
• Familiarity with AWS Media Services, CDN technologies, cloud networking, and streaming observability platforms.
• Working knowledge of contribution protocols including SRT, Zixi, RIST, RTP, UDP, and multicast workflows.
• Strong understanding of DRM, SSAI, client playback behavior, redundancy architectures, and failover strategies.
• Excellent incident management, root cause analysis, and cross-functional communication skills in high-pressure live production environments.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $98,400.00 - 147,600.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.This position is bonus eligible.
