Overview

The Broadcast Media Operations Specialist ensures Paramount's broadcast and digital media assets are operationally ready for linear television, streaming, video-on-demand (VOD), and global distribution. Operating within the Cloud Control Center (CCC), this role manages media workflows from live acquisition through broadcast readiness, enterprise Media Supply Chain processing, content fulfillment, and downstream distribution.

This role supports scheduled programming, live events, sports, news, premium entertainment, and other rapid-turnaround productions. Working closely with Broadcast Operations, Engineering, Product, Media Supply Chain, the Global Media Center (GMC), and other business partners, this person ensures content is processed accurately, delivered efficiently, and meets Paramount's standards for quality, reliability, and customer service.

Responsibilities

Live Media Operations

  • Capture, monitor, and process live media using Rohde & Schwarz Venice Ingest Servers, the Evertz Deferred Recording System, and other enterprise broadcast technologies supporting scheduled programming, live events, sports, breaking news, and rapid-turnaround broadcast operations
  • Support live productions by participating in operational conference bridges and communicating workflow status, production updates, and issue resolution

Media Processing & Quality Control

  • Verify media assets meet Paramount technical delivery specifications by performing technical QC of video, audio, captions, metadata, timecode, and file integrity prior to distribution
  • Perform basic media editing, rendering, file reconstruction, and closed caption validation using Adobe Premiere Pro, CaptionMaker, MacCaption, Oona Tools, or comparable applications

Media Supply Chain Operations

  • Manage automated media processing workflows using Evertz Mediator across multiple locations; ensure media is successfully ingested through the Media Ingest Portal (MIP) into Paramount's enterprise Media Asset Management (CRMAM) system
  • Support FastTrack and other quick-turnaround fulfillment workflows
  • Monitor workflow dashboards and operational tools (e.g., Airtable); ensure ingest, transcoding, packaging, fulfillment, and downstream processing complete successfully, and investigate/resolve exceptions

Broadcast Readiness

  • Verify scheduled linear broadcast content is processed, validated, and available for playout across Trident, Evertz Cloud Playout (ORT), and other supported platforms
  • Identify missing media, quality issues, metadata discrepancies, and scheduling conflicts; work with On-Air Operations and other stakeholders to resolve quickly

Operational Excellence

  • Coordinate operational issues by following established escalation procedures; partner with Engineering, Product, Media Supply Chain, GMC, On-Air Operations, and vendor support teams to restore service
  • Follow established SOPs while proactively identifying opportunities to improve workflows, increase automation, and enhance efficiency

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience supporting broadcast operations, media processing, media asset management, or digital encoding/related media technology
  • Strong understanding of professional broadcast video and audio formats, codecs, containers, frame rates, aspect ratios, color spaces, and technical file delivery specifications
  • Ability to recognize, diagnose, and troubleshoot issues involving video, audio, captions, metadata, file integrity, and automated media workflows
  • Experience using professional QC tools, including waveform monitors, vectorscopes, audio metering, and related broadcast analysis equipment
  • Working knowledge of closed caption formats including SCC, STL, SRT, or comparable sidecar caption files
  • Understanding of enterprise media workflows, automated processing, transcoding, media asset management, and downstream distribution
  • Familiarity with enterprise file transfer technologies such as Aspera, Signiant, or comparable solutions
  • Experience using Adobe Premiere Pro or comparable non-linear editing software
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex operational workflows and make sound decisions in time-sensitive broadcast environments
  • Excellent communication, organizational, customer service, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while remaining calm under pressure
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and live event coverage
  • Ability to work on-site within Paramount's Broadcast Operations and Cloud Control Center
