Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, Project Management, or Organizational Leadership.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in strategic planning, program management, business operations, engineering, utility operations, asset management, project management, or related disciplines.
  • Experience leading cross-functional programs, strategic initiatives, or organizational improvement efforts.
  • Experience developing executive presentations, business cases, strategic plans, and performance reporting.
  • Experience working with senior leaders and facilitating leadership-level decision-making processes.
  • Strong understanding or capacity to gain understanding of utility operations, engineering, asset management, maintenance, reliability, or related business functions.
  • Preferred certifications include: PMP, PgMP, Lean Six Sigma, Prosci, CMRP, CRL, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate annual Generation strategic planning, defining initiatives, aligning goals, prioritizing, and measuring performance.
  • Support portfolio governance with visibility into progress, risks, benefits, and resources.
  • Develop and maintain initiative charters, roadmaps, governance frameworks, and executive scorecards.
  • Coordinate business reviews, planning sessions, workshops, and governance meetings.
  • Assist in development of budgets, workforce plans, resource forecasts, and business cases with Finance and HR.
  • Establish processes for benefits realization, KPI governance, and performance tracking.
  • Prepare executive materials, board briefs, and leadership communications.
  • Create portfolio dashboards and reporting for leadership decision-making.
  • Foster cross-functional alignment and accountability across initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain governance for approvals, milestones, risk management, and carryovers.
  • Support prioritization and ensure resources align to high-value outcomes.
  • Promote consistent planning, governance, and reporting across Generation.
  • Lead or support special projects as assigned.

Sr Generation Strategy Mgr: $94,600 - $126,100
Lead Generation Strategy Mgr: $111,400 - $148,500

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The Generation Strategy Manager leads the development, coordination, governance, and reporting processes that connect Generation's strategic priorities to measurable business outcomes. This role is responsible for facilitating annual business planning, portfolio governance, initiative management, executive reporting, workforce planning support, budget alignment, benefits realization, and leadership decision support.

The position serves as a key advisor to Generation leadership and works across Operations, Engineering, Reliability, Asset Management, Environmental, Technology, and Corporate functions to ensure initiatives remain aligned to strategic priorities, organizational goals, financial commitments, and operational objectives.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead the annual Generation strategic planning process, including development of strategic initiatives, goal alignment, prioritization, and performance measures.
  • Facilitate portfolio governance processes that provide visibility into initiative progress, risks, dependencies, benefits, and resource requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Generation initiative charters, portfolio roadmaps, governance frameworks, and executive scorecards.
  • Coordinate business reviews, strategic planning sessions, leadership workshops, and governance meetings.
  • Support development of Generation budgets, workforce plans, resource forecasts, and business cases in partnership with Finance, Human Resources, and leadership teams.
  • Establish and maintain processes for benefits realization, value tracking, KPI governance, and initiative performance measurement.
  • Prepare executive-level presentations, board materials, briefing documents, talking points, and leadership communications.
  • Develop portfolio dashboards and reporting mechanisms that provide leadership with actionable information for decision-making.
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment across strategic initiatives, ensuring accountability, clarity of ownership, and execution discipline.
  • Develop & maintain governance processes for initiative approvals, milestone reviews, decision logs, risk management, and carryover recommendations.
  • Support organizational prioritization efforts and ensure resources are aligned to the highest-value strategic outcomes.
  • Promote consistent planning, governance, and reporting practices across the Generation organization.
  • Lead or support special projects, executive requests, and strategic initiatives as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, Project Management, Organizational Leadership preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in strategic planning, program management, business operations, engineering, utility operations, asset management, project management, or related disciplines.

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:

Must have a valid driver's license. Must have a satisfactory work record, including good attendance. (Testing for technical knowledge and aptitude may be part of the selection process.)

Working Conditions:

Work will be performed mostly in an office environment, with occasional field visits to Power Generation Facilities. Work hours may occasionally extend beyond normal business hours depending on project deadlines
