Job Overview

Position: Sr. Lead Electrical Engineer, Facilities (Sr. Manager, Facilities)

Location: Tucson AZ Airport Site, Tucson, Arizona; supporting sites in New Mexico (Southwest Region) and occasional projects across other RTX regions.

Salary Range: $132,400 – $251,600 USD.

Security Clearance: U.S. citizenship required. This role requires a U.S. government‑issued DoD Secret clearance, to be obtained and maintained starting day 1.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the facilities electrical engineering and design team.
  • Maintain core electrical infrastructure systems including outdoor substations, medium‑ and low‑voltage power distribution, emergency and standby power systems (UPS, 400 Hz converters), fire alarm and fire protection systems, communication systems, grounding and lightning protection systems, and other specialty systems.
  • Monitor and develop short‑ to mid‑term site electrical medium‑voltage distribution and infrastructure system planning; scope and budget future projects.
  • Expertly design project load sizing, coordination studies, arc flash analysis, lightning protection studies, and develop construction drawings.
  • Lead electrical team on panel schedules, studies, labeling using SKM Power Tools, ETAP or equivalent, and panel sizing and designs.
  • Provide leadership and expert knowledge of the in‑house electrical metering system and troubleshoot electrical infrastructure.
  • Prepare bid documents and coordinate electrical construction for office renovations, manufacturing expansions, laboratory fit‑ups, and equipment installations.
  • Support projects from design through the bid cycle, construction management, and closeout.
  • Coordinate with project estimating, scheduling, and building electrical design.
  • Lead team in electrical maintenance and shutdown activities.
  • Review practices, procedures, and processes to improve maintenance and reduce business risk related to core electrical systems.
  • Define customer requirements and Statements of Work (SOWs) for all projects.
  • Ensure electrical system installation, repair, or construction is fully commissioned before turnover to customers.
  • Maintain RTX and Raytheon Corporate EHS&S standards, policies, and codes.
  • Ensure compliance with RTX, Raytheon, Federal, State, and local codes, regulations, and standards for assigned electrical systems.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with other building disciplines (architectural, mechanical, structural, civil, IT, security).
  • Prepare diagrams, sketches, construction drawings, cost estimates, bid documents, and construction administration.
  • Meet with customers, develop continuous improvement projects, coordinate studies, and manage projects.
  • Interface and coordinate projects with internal and external resources such as IT, safety, security, construction trade workers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline; or advanced degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Active Professional Engineering license in Electrical Engineering in Arizona or eligibility to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Minimum five years experience in building electrical engineering with expertise in: high, medium, and low voltage distribution systems; multi‑frequency ratings; industrial grounding and bonding; lightning protection per NFPA 780 and Air Force explosive requirements; load calculations; industrial controls; arc flash and fault current analysis; overcurrent protection coordination; interior and exterior lighting design; and general building construction knowledge.
  • At least ten years experience with construction project management: scoping, budgeting, scheduling, contractor coordination, commissioning, and close‑out.
  • At least ten years experience writing technical engineering specifications, reports, and operating procedures.
  • Proficiency with SKM Power Tools (short‑circuit & arc‑fault analysis, load flow, voltage drop, feeder/branch sizing, protection coordination).
  • Excellent written and oral communication; ability to interact with leadership, vendors, contractors, and internal customers.
  • Proficient in reading, printing/plotting, and creating CAD drawings and construction documents.
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70, 70E, 72, 90, 101, 110 and related codes governing facilities design, operations, and maintenance.
  • Solid computer skills: AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project Scheduler.
  • Knowledge of ICD 705 physical security requirements for sensitive compartmented buildings.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance within 120 days of acceptance.
