Xylem Services USA LLC’s Pittsburgh, PA office is seeking a Sr. Lead Application Engineer (Engineer-III) for a hybrid office-based/work-from-home role within the United States.
Responsibilities
- Study BID specifications and inlet/outlet parameters.
- Prepare engineering process unit sizing calculations and develop design basis, criteria, and standard calculation Excel sheets.
- Conduct hydraulic, mass balance, head loss, pump head, and other engineering calculations using Excel.
- Create conceptual and detailed engineering designs, reports, studies, calculations, drawings, and visual aids.
- Develop PDF/PID drawings, plans, sections, layout details, and profiles/sections in coordination with design engineer.
- Design pharmaceutical, laboratory, healthcare, boiler feed process water treatment schemes.
- Design unit operations such as ACF, MMF, UF, RO, CEDI, MB, softener, UV, and various filters for process water applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Seven (7) years of relevant experience.
- At least four (4) years in process engineering and water treatment technologies.
- Experience researching and developing engineering strategies.
- Proven ability to independently design engineered solutions for industrial water treatment projects.
- Experience developing cost‑effective designs using commercial off‑the‑shelf components.
- Proposal writing and professional written customer communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate workflow between multiple stakeholders, gather design input, and organize project execution planning.
Work Environment & Requirements
- Hybrid: must work in Pittsburgh office for two days per week; can work remotely within the United States.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs, climb stairs, bend, reach, push, pull on an occasional basis.
- Will work indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to temperatures up to 120°F and down to 0°F.
- Travel both domestic and international up to 25% of the time.
