Job summary

Xylem is hiring an Application Engineer IV to tackle complex wastewater and process water projects across industries such as microelectronics, food & beverage, mining, power, and chemical processing. You will design, size, and specify treatment systems, develop PFDs/P&IDs, and lead technical client discussions. This role supports a hybrid work model across multiple U.S.

locations. The candidate should have a chemical engineering background with 8+ years of experience, strong design expertise,

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in Chemical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in water treatment or process design.
• Advanced knowledge of water treatment processes and equipment platforms.
• Ability to source and apply advanced third-party components to new applications.
• Solid understanding of proposals, costing, risk mitigation, and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Work primarily with the direct sales team and review RFQs and specs.
• Perform process design calculations and develop PFDs and P&IDs.
• Prepare mass and water balances; perform hydraulic calculations and pump sizing.
• Select equipment and materials; identify risks and develop proposals.
• Present technical solutions to customers and support bid decisions.
• Train and mentor other engineers; collaborate across disciplines.
