Cognizant is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to design and build scalable, cloud-based applications for high-volume operations. You will collaborate with product managers, tech leads, and engineers to translate business requirements into robust technology solutions and ensure architectural integrity.

This remote role targets candidates located in the United States and requires 6+ years of experience with Java, Spring, and Kafka, plus experience with CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Agile

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software development experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Data JPA.
• Hands-on experience developing and supporting scalable backend applications in a cloud environment.
• Strong experience with Apache Kafka or another enterprise messaging or queueing technology.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and modern deployment practices.
• Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment and collaborating with stakeholders.

About the Role

As a Senior Java Backend Developer, you will make an impact by designing and developing scalable, cloud-based applications that support high-volume business operations. You will be a valued member of a collaborative engineering team and work closely with technical product managers, technical leads, developers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable technology solutions.

In this role, you will

• Design, develop, and implement scalable backend applications and analytics solutions using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies.
• Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions and confidently lead technical discussions with product managers, technical leads, and other stakeholders.
• Build high-quality application features by following industry coding standards, developing unit tests, and meeting established code-coverage expectations.
• Support the complete software delivery lifecycle, including application testing, CI/CD deployment, production release, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Create and maintain technical designs and service specifications while providing guidance to developers on functional and technical documentation.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is $63,000 - $110,500, depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.

In addition to salary, this role is eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, subject to individual and company performance.
