Job summary

Amazon is seeking an innovative Industrial Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of material handling systems across facilities. You will drive technical strategy, coordinate with WWDE, Operations Engineering, and strategic suppliers, and manage large, high-visibility programs.

You will serve as a single-threaded leader among multiple engineering teams, operations, and RME partners, owning technical documentation, KPIs, and standardization initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Owns multiple large, highly complex programs through development and deployment lifecycle.
• Understands business and technical requirements across mechanical, electrical, and controls functions.
• Fluently communicates system-level architecture; critiques tech design and tailors messages for tech/non-tech stakeholders.
• Partners with Operations, Engineering, and Data Science leaders to align strategy and priorities.
• Defines program scope and technical requirements and relays them to design and field teams for efficient transfer of knowledge.
• Evaluates solutions balancing business value and technology risk; supports trade-offs for outcomes.
• Builds strong relationships with Fulfillment Center leadership and cross-site engineering stakeholders.
• Communicates program status to Directors of Engineering and Operations; travels up to 50% as needed.
