Job summary

Celgard is seeking an HVAC Mechanic to join the Concord, NC maintenance team. The day shift (Mon-Fri, 7am-3:30pm) is responsible for operating, inspecting, and repairing HVAC, electrical, and facility systems.

Candidates should have an associate degree in HVAC/technical field and 10 years of industrial experience; EPA 608 license preferred and may be required. Flexibility for overtime and second/third shifts is noted.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in a technical field or accredited HVAC trade school.
  • EPA 608 License preferred; will be required if hired.
  • NC Electrician License and NC Fire Sprinkler License preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in an industrial environment maintaining and repairing HVAC systems.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform overtime as needed.

  • Operate, inspect, test, and repair HVAC and related facility systems.
  • Maintain Building Automation System, plumbing, and fire facility monitoring.

HVAC Mechanic - Celgard – Concord, NC
About the Role

We are seeking an HVAC Mechanic to be a part of the Maintenance team based in Concord, NC. This position directly reports to the Electrical Supervisor and does not supervise others.

Shift

This is a day shift position. Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm.

Qualifications
  • Education Background: Associates degree in a technical related field, or completion of an accredited trade school in (HVAC) heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems or equivalent training required EPA Clean Air Section 608 License preferred – Will be required to complete it if hired.
  • NC Electrician License preferred NC Fire Sprinkler Maintenance Technician License preferred Special courses in electrical, pneumatic, facility monitoring/control and power plant systems are preferred.
  • Knowledge & Experience: 10 years of experience in an industrial environment maintaining and repairing HVAC systems required Ability to troubleshoot a wide range of AC/DC electrical systems required Ability to repair and/or replace electrical components that make up HVAC systems required. Must be able to work at heights up to 30 feet, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, bend and twist in order to reach remote equipment Must be able to work overtime as needed Flexibility to carry a cell phone for coverage and site wide communication. Also willing to work a 2nd or 3rd shift schedule when required.
  • Proficiency with computers and computer applications (MS Office, Word, Excel) Ability to use special tools and equipment in order to install and maintain HVAC systems (tools include but are not limited to hammers, wrenches, electric drills, pipe cutters, metal cutters, benders, thermometers, pressure gauges, manometers, acetylene torches, and volt meters, etc) PIV equipment license (forklifts, man lifts, etc).

Key Accountabilities
  • Operating, maintaining, inspecting, testing and repairing engineering facility systems.
  • Systems include electrical, (HVAC), heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, water, air, fire facility monitoring and Building Automation System.
  • Understand Cleanroom HEPA filtration systems, cleanroom requirements and protocol
  • Understanding of complete HVAC system monitoring best practices of optimum manufacturing run conditions
  • Utilizes technical publications, diagrams, etc., to accomplish maintenance, repair and the ordering of material and equipment.
  • Accomplishes required services for (HVAC) systems that utilize Freon (CFC-HCFC)
  • Operate PIV equipment (forklifts, man lifts, etc.)
  • Repair and/or replace electrical components
  • Maintain screw type chillers and water cooled air handlers
  • Maintains operations and maintenance records
  • Work collaboratively with others; lead and participate on cross-functional teams
  • Follow all Celgard safety guidelines and procedures; plan safety into projects and tasks
  • Must keep all Celgard information CONFIDENTIAL.

Working Environment

This position is in a manufacturing plant setting that would require working in a production environment around chemicals. Work will require standing and walking for up to 80% of the time. Lighting and temperature are adequate. You may be required to lift up to 35 pounds and/or force necessary to push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Celgard manufacturing sites are IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 certified.
