Job summary

Celgard, LLC is seeking an HVAC Mechanic to join the Maintenance team in Concord, NC. The role reports to the Electrical Supervisor and involves hands-on responsibility for HVAC, electrical and facility systems in a manufacturing setting.

Ideal candidates have an Associate degree in HVAC or related field, and experience with industrial HVAC maintenance, with licenses preferred. The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs and working up to 30 feet in height, with potential for overtime and

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in HVAC or accredited trade school required.
  • EPA 608 license preferred or to be completed if hired.
  • NC Electrician license preferred.
  • NC Fire Sprinkler Maintenance Technician license preferred.
  • 10 years of industrial HVAC maintenance experience required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot wide range of AC/DC electrical systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights up to 30 feet.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, inspect, test and repair HVAC and related facility systems.
  • Understand cleanroom HEPA filtration and protocol.
  • Monitor and optimize HVAC systems for manufacturing runs.
  • Utilize diagrams and publications to order parts and perform maintenance.

Shift: Day shift, Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm
Reporting To: Electrical Supervisor
Supervision Level: Non-supervisory

About the Role

We are seeking an HVAC Mechanic to be a part of the Maintenance team based in Concord, NC. This position directly reports to the Electrical Supervisor and does not supervise others.

Key Responsibilities / Job Duties
  • Operating, maintaining, inspecting, testing and repairing engineering facility systems. Systems include electrical, HVAC, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, water, air, fire facility monitoring and Building Automation System.
  • Understanding Cleanroom HEPA filtration systems, cleanroom requirements and protocol.
  • Understanding of complete HVAC system monitoring best practices of optimum manufacturing run conditions.
  • Utilizing technical publications, diagrams, etc., to accomplish maintenance, repair and the ordering of material and equipment.
  • Accomplishing required services for HVAC systems that utilize Freon (CFC-HCFC).
  • Operating PIV equipment (forklifts, man lifts, etc.).
  • Repair and/or replace electrical components.
  • Maintain screw type chillers and water cooled air handlers.
  • Maintain operations and maintenance records.
  • Work collaboratively with others; lead and participate on cross-functional teams.
  • Follow all Celgard safety guidelines and procedures; plan safety into projects and tasks.
  • Keep all Celgard information CONFIDENTIAL.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education Background: Associates degree in a technical related field, or completion of an accredited trade school in HVAC heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems or equivalent training required.
  • EPA Clean Air Section 608 License (preferred – will be required to complete it if hired).
  • NC Electrician License (preferred).
  • NC Fire Sprinkler Maintenance Technician License (preferred).
  • Special courses in electrical, pneumatic, facility monitoring/control and power plant systems (preferred).
  • 10 years of experience in an industrial environment maintaining and repairing HVAC systems (required).
  • Ability to troubleshoot a wide range of AC/DC electrical systems (required).
  • Ability to repair and/or replace electrical components that make up HVAC systems (required).
  • Must be able to work at heights up to 30 feet, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, bend and twist in order to reach remote equipment.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Flexibility to carry a cell phone for coverage and site wide communication.
  • Also willing to work a 2nd or 3rd shift schedule when required.
  • Proficiency with computers and computer applications (MS Office, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to use special tools and equipment in order to install and maintain HVAC systems (tools include but are not limited to hammers, wrenches, electric drills, pipe cutters, metal cutters, benders, thermometers, pressure gauges, manometers, acetylene torches, and volt meters, etc).
  • PIV equipment license (forklifts, man lifts, etc.).

Working Environment

This position is in a manufacturing plant setting that would require working in a production environment around chemicals. Work will require standing and walking for up to 80% of the time. Lighting and temperature are adequate. You may be required to lift up to 35 pounds and/or force necessary to push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Celgard manufacturing sites are IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 certified.
